Three double bill performances during the Abhainn Rí Festival:
‘In My Body Are These Islands’ and ‘This is’
by Croi Glan featuring Sighile Hennessy and Jim Rohan from the Equinox Theatre Company
‘IN MY BODY ARE THESE ISLANDS’
As Irish culture rapidly shifts and changes how does this affect our internal landscape and how we respond to the places we’re from? Inspired by John O’Donohue’s writings on landscape and beauty, this dance piece examines how our environment influences what he calls ‘the internal landscape’: our cultural attitudes, thoughts and feelings. In doing this, Islands creates a space for community discussion and reflection on our post-Celtic Tiger surroundings. With original scoring by Sheldon Smith, who will interweave local community voices for each unique performance location.
Performed by Croi Glan and KCAT’s Equinox Theatre Company
‘THIS IS’
This is in the making. This is where we find meaning. This is what it is. This is the story of how we came to be in this space together now… with you. This is here. This is what we make of it. THIS IS is a 20 minute piece performed by five dancers. A range of diverse bodies move on stage, showing their own uniqueness and the collaboration that brings them together.
