The Lost Prince 2011

The Lost Prince beautifully and touchingly interweaves the narratives of storytelling, fairytales and acts of reading in a drama that mixes animation and multimedia with good old-fashioned on-the-knuckle acting to ultimately distil a gentle lesson about the importance of not forgetting to love what is in front of our eyes and under our nose.

IN MY BODY ARE THESE ISLANDS

Clonmel Junction Festival 2011
Abhainn Ri Festival 2011

As Irish culture rapidly shifts and changes how does this affect our internal landscape? “Islands” is a site-specific touring dance piece incorporating community members at each performance location. Inspired by the writings of John Donohue, this work explores how our environment influences our cultural attitudes, thoughts and feelings and reflects on our essential human relationship with the places we are from.

Dancers: Mary Nugent, Dawn Mulloy, Tara Brandel, Jim Rohan, Sighile Hennessy and James O’Shea

Equinox Theatre Company

Equinox Theatre Company was started in 2008 as part of KCAT Art & Study Centre. It aims to create a new situation; artists with learning disabilities and other disadvantages developing themselves as creative actors and working in collaboration with other professional theatre practitioners.
The company operates like a collective of creative artists with eight permanent members and one facilitator/advocate working closely with the group.
Each production is developed slowly over a number of months before even beginning rehearsals. In this way the company members gain ownership of the work and move ever more steadily towards a professional level. Each production has more rehearsal time devoted to it than in mainstream theatre in order to enhance the experience of rehearsing a show for all concerned, minimise stress levels and to ensure confidence and ownership of the production.
The company seeks to mix other media not normally associated with theatre in order to enhance and support the work and give the audience an exciting new theatrical experience.

To date Equinox has produced two full-scale productions

Footballhead which told the story of the inhabitants of one small town; their lives and their personal sense of worth. For the creation of this production the company worked in collaboration with Improvisation artist / clown Marcus Bale and writer / film-maker Andrew McEneff over a period of nine months and combined live theatre and film.
The Lost Prince by Ken Bourke, in collaboration with playwright Ken Bourke and theatre director Donal Gallagher.
