BOSI FEST is an international film festival for and about people with disabilities which was organized for the first timelast year by Hendi Centre Koloseum. The festival was held between 20th - 30th May 2010 in Dom Sindikata, under the slogan Invisible differences and visible similarities. The festival’s primary aim was to draw the public attention to the art and possibilities of the participants, at the same time sending the message that disabled people should enjoy the same rights and have the same obligations as other citizens, attempting thus to implement measures for their equal participation and integration in the development of society. Last festival presented over 55 films about lives and works of people with disabilities, which came from 18 countries and 3 continents.

The recent outings for both the Equinox Theatre Company and Éamon Little’s filmed portrayal of the KCAT studio received superb and insightful reviews.
Written by Ken Bourke, ‘The Lost Prince’ was performed to a full house night after night in a series rapturously received sell-out shows.

The Irish Theatre Magazine’s Patrick Brennan was there and reviews it here,

Following its showing in Carlow, ‘Living Colour’ made its home in the IFI for a night as part of the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival. Warmly praised and enjoyed by all, the night was attended by Éamon and many of the KCAT studio artists, and they graced the stage for a Q&A following the screening.

The Source and KCAT are proud to announce the upcoming exhibition of work by Thomas Barron, which signals the next chapter in the unique Homecoming series and sees the Kilkenny based artist returning home to Tipperary.
Highly regarded as a painter, working predominantly on canvas, Thomas’ work develops through a series of very carefully worked stages. The process begins in pencil and progresses to include multiple layers of paint resulting in pieces with a great sense of depth, and a particular compositional balance between colour and form.
Thomas lives in Grangemockler Camphill, Co. Tipperary and is a member of the KCAT studio. He has exhibited widely in Ireland and abroad and has been awarded numerous commissions. Thomas is delighted to be showing his work in his native Tipperary.

“Living Colour is a fascinating documentary and an intimate portrayal of a collective of extraordinary and idiosyncratic artists, a film which sheds new light on old questions about art, outsider art and the artistic impulse.
By spending much time in an artists’ studio with a difference at the Kilkenny Centre for Arts Talent (KCAT) in Callan, director Éamon Little delves into the world of the dozen or so artists who work there, all of whom comprise a very individual mix of artistic talent and special needs. But the KCAT studio operates with as little reference to needs as possible, focusing instead on ability and here, in an atmosphere refreshingly free of ego or commercial concerns, these colourful characters make their extraordinary creations, work to commissions and build towards exhibitions.
Living Colour is a fresh and emotionally stirring look at art and those who create it. Given that the artists have all, to one degree or another, special needs, the film could, in the hands of a lesser director become overly sentimental or clichéd.
Little, however, employs the deftest of touches to deliver a sumptuous film that is perfectly balanced yet still pays tribute to arts, the creative process and the artists involved.”

The Lost Prince
a new play by Ken Bourke
Cindy doesn’t care; about anyone or anything.
Across worlds, out of a story-book,
on an accidental wind comes Johann, the lost prince.
Apparently he’s rather, well…lost; and
really, he doesn’t seem to care, about anyone or anything.
Kitty’s at her wits end, and Tom’s given up.
But there is hope, because at the end of every story
there’s a happy ever after…isn’t there?
The Lost Prince is a story about a woman who falls into a
fairytale.

Equinox Theatre Company have teamed up with playwright Ken Bourke (Buck Jones and the Body Snatchers, The Hunt for Red Willie) and director Donal Gallagher (Six by Sundown, Red Lola) to bring you the world premier of this very special fairy tale…
Part of KCAT Art & Study Centre, Equinox are an inclusive company of actors, with and without special needs, dedicated to working in collaboration with other professional theatre artists, to create our own brand of inclusive theatre.
